Bert’s Meetjesland
‘Het Meetjesland’ is the region where I grew up and did most of my rides. It’s squeezed between Ghent and Bruges. On the North you have the Dutch province Zeeland, and on the South we have the region of the Flemish classics.
I am sure people have seen the images displayed during the recent World Championships where the first week of races crossed right through this region. We can ride through wide ‘polder’ landscapes, around in between the famous cities of Gent and Brugge and the coastal line. We will pass beautiful towns who all have a rich history in the foundation of Flanders. The region also offers endless green landscapes and a unique coastal line.
The rides with the road bike can be a mix of flat countryside roads and bike paths along the several canals. For the gravel bike we can add nice off-road sections, forest tracks and cobble sectors.
