What Bram says about his favorite gravel rides; “After my career I discovered the gravel bike. The possibilities are endless around my hometown Rekem. Ride through the Hoge Kempen National Park in Belgium on the most beautiful gravel paths, without seeing anyone for hours. The vastness of the forests of this national park will certainly surprise you.
Start in beautiful old Rekem for a trip along the Grensmaas to quickly dive into the forest. During the route you will see the now well-known ‘grenspalen’ (border markers). In this area they are almost all off-road so the gravel bike is ideal for it. Once infected with the border marker virus you will want to find them all.
Would you prefer to climb on gravel or to leave Maastricht for a trip through the hilly country? Sure! Digging into the South Limburg hills is a unique experience and gives you a completely different picture of Limburg. Steep climbs and rapid descents follow each other in quick succession and the gravel paths over the plateaus or through the valleys are of unparalleled beauty. After the tour it will feel like you have been far away from the Netherlands.”
