Cape Town Road
I have an affinity for gravel, but also enjoy the ease of road riding on the tar roads. The Cape
Peninsula is perfect for road cycling, as it is the home of the Cape Town Cycle Tour, one of
the world’s biggest timed bicycle races. We are spoilt in where we can ride, being able to
enjoy the beautiful scenery, and the multitude of coffee shops and restaurants that can be
visited on a day’s bike ride!
The hilly nature of the coastline of the Cape Peninsula rides will give any rider wonderful
views and the sense of freedom and accomplishment. Riding from the City Bowl, through
the Atlantic Seaboard, across Chapman’s Peak Drive, Misty Cliffs, over Red Hill to the old
naval port called Simon’s Town in False Bay. Return to the City Bowl either through the
vineyards of Constantia or past the Atlantic seaboard, the possibilities are endless and
dependent of how much a person would want to take in, or how far they want to ride.
