Carlo’s Hometown
Montespertoli – Certaldo – San Gimignano – Tavarnelle in val di Pesa – Montespertoli
This 70 kilometer ride will start in Carlo’s hometown of Montespertoli in the province of Florence. If you’re coming from Florence by car it will only take you half an hour.
Out of Montespertoli Carlo will take you on a half day ride in his incredible hometown area. An area where you will ride the Tuscan hills and where the landscape are always spectacular. The ride will first take you to the south. Close from where Carlo lives you will soon encounter the medieval town of Certaldo. If you’re confident about your legs it will be worth the effort to make the climb into the historical town centre where one of the three great Tuscan poets of the renaissance wrote his masterpiece the Decameron. Carlo can tell you all about it.
The ride will continue with a climb towards the famous town of San Gimignano. Mostly known for its white wine: Vernaccia di San Gimignano and its many medieval towers. As you are half way the ride you may want to stick with a coffee for today though. After San Gimignano enjoy the wonderful decent and prepare for another beautiful climb. Once you have reached the second larger summit of the day it’s slightly up and down enjoying your ride towards the finish.
