The lake northeast of Girona thanks its existence to melt water from the Pyrenees and made a great decor in last years’ time trial in the Vuelta a Catalunya. The lake is popular with locals and is a great ride destination.
What Dennis says about this ride; “This the rest day ride for the Girona pros heading towards the lakeside of Banyoles. Enjoy a smooth ride just before the lower Pyrenees start. We can enjoy an easier route with a coffee stop at a prime location at the lake. This ride won’t include major hills, meaning that afterwards you have energy left to spend in the city! A perfect ride for your first or last day in Girona.
Alternatively, taking up a bit more of your time and legs, we can pass the Banyoles lake and head towards the Pyrenees to do some of it’s early climbs. You will enjoy the nice and quiet roads taking you through the impressive volcanic area of la Garrotxa with nice climbs and medieval towns. Halfway and descending into Olot, I will take guests to a great place to stop for coffee and cake. After that, we descend back into Girona to enjoy your evening and the nice memory of today’s ride.”
