Ine lives in the gorgeous ‘Belle Epoque’ seaside town of De Haan, near the famous city of Brugge, also known as the scenic departure city of the Ronde van Vlaanderen.
It’s here, in Ine’s home area, where she will show you the best roads, hills and insider hot spots and take you on a truly great ride. Whether she will lead you along the Belgian seaside or will guide you across the western Belgian countryside, arriving back into Brugge or De Haan will be the cherry on the pie.
What Ine says about her hometown rides; “I have just finished working for Belgian television during the World Championships and I am still enjoying the crazy Belgian enthusiasm and atmosphere that I have seen while making documentaries. This was especially nice, because it all happened right in my backyard, at least the first week. I hope the world has seen how beautiful this part of Belgium is.
It’s like my husband Serge says, probably most people think about cobbles or the Ardennes when they think about riding in Belgium. But actually the part where we live is very different but great for cycling too. Here you can ride through wide ‘polder’ landscapes, around and through the famous city of Brugge and along the coastal line. We can pass beautiful towns like Damme and Lissewege, the white village, with their rich history in the foundation of Flanders. And with great places for a delicious stopover in idyllic settings. The region also offers endless green landscapes and also the coastal line is impressive.
Ever since I stopped professional cycling there has been an enormous growth of women starting to ride their bicycle. I am really happy to see that. Although I love to ride with everybody of course, I have to admit I would be really happy if I can show groups of women my hometown ride. It will be fun.”
