Karol-Ann’s Girona
Treat yourself to a cycling adventure with Karol-Ann in Girona.
As you would expect from the cycling capital of Europe, Girona offers many options and directions to go to. Here are Karol-Ann’s favorite rides. Just pick the one you like best. Or stay over multiple days and do them all!
Coast loop all day! “It’s my favorite loop in Girona. There is few ways to do it. There is one way that take a good part of the day but then we follow the Mediterranean coast. We leave gently from Girona on some quiet and flatter road. Then we reach the sea and its such a beautiful, quiet and twistee road that goes up and down along the coast. I always stop to take pictures. Then we reach some beach towns where we do a necessary stop at one of the best cake shop around Girona. We go back to Girona through some hills but no too steep. Definitely one of the best ride.”
Coast loop three hours ride. “We go straight up els Angels, a climb just outside of Girona, and then direction the coast. We stop at the same cake shop and go directly back to Girona after going back up Romanya de la Selva. It’s about 1000m of climbing and we get to see the town near the sea. I really enjoy this ride as I get to go to this nice little bakery and enjoy a coffee in the sunshine.”
Rustik. “We can take a little detour out of town by going up Mont Juic. And then mostly flat going to Emporda where we stop at this little bakery where the owner is super nice and always enjoy seeing cyclists. Grab a coffee and we ride back towards Girona going back the hard way up Els Angels (5.6km at 6%) where we can enjoy a nice 10km descent towards back into town.”
Banyoles with option Rocacobra. “Its a best recovery day for the pros around Girona. We stop at a coffee shop at the Banyoles lake. It is one of my favorite place to stop to enjoy and nice coffee in a relaxing environment. We can add up to the ride by going up Rocacobra. One of the hardest climb around Girona that goes up for 9km and average 7%. The view at the top is absolutely worth the effort.”
