Italian Renaissance: The Machiavelli Tour
This is a nice ride just south of Florence that thanks its itinerary to the locations of the Machiavelli family estates.
Niccolò Machiavelli was a politician and writer during the Italian renaissance. He is renowned across the world mostly for his masterpiece ‘The Prince’ which still is of a high influence on politics, diplomacy, leadership, statecraft and governance of today. He wrote a lot of this work in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, the starting point of this ride.
During the ride, you will encounter several of the Machiavelli family estates in the area where our Carlo can tell you about Machiavelli, his principles and how come the world leaders of today still have his little book at their bedside. The 16th century politician is so renowned that his name even has become a noun: Machiavellianism. If you are interested, at the end of the ride there’s a local bookshop at the main Machiavelli villa that sells The Prince in several languages.
Mid-way the ride there’ll be a stop at a agricultural cooperation established by Carlo’s local Italian friends. A coffee, a biological Chianti wine, a lunch you name it. It will be arranged for you. Or pick the local hotspot sandwich bar nearby. All is possible!
