Roos’ West-Friesland
Join Roos in the beautiful north of The Netherlands, exploring Medemblik near Hoorn and the region of West-Frisia, where she grew up. In this stunning Unesco area, Roos is an absolute ridemeister and you will be out for a day you will never forget.
You start with following the dikes along the IJsselmeer which is normally full of sailing boats. Through the beautiful inland you will be crossing famous cheese towns and you will get to the sealine and might even see seal pups. Once back in Medemblik don’t forget to stay another couple of hours in this beautiful town and check out the Radboud Castle.
What Roos says about her hometown ride; “We will pass different types of agricultural land, polders and dikes. With my background in agricultural management, you can ask me anything about it. I grew up next to where the famous ‘Opperdoezer ronde’ is grown. It is a delicious potato, I can even share a recipe. In this area there is often no way to hide from the wind, but I will make you comfortable by riding efficiently in the group and picking a good route suited to the wind direction. And if you like to challenge yourself, we will definitely check out one of the longest cobbled sections in the North, “De Kwelweg”. Get the tricks and you will fly over them.”
