Stef’s Hometown Road
Discover Stef’s favorite roads in the beautiful surroundings of his hometown Utrecht, in the heart of The Netherlands. Home to the Tour de France departure in 2015 and actually the only city in the world to be the home of all three Grand Tour departures. Stef will take you out for a stunning ride. There are many option in this area, from hilly rides covering some of best climbs in the Netherlands through to the rivers and countryside between Utrecht and Amsterdam.
What Stef says about his hometown ride; “On road the area surrounding Utrecht is a great place for a cycling adventure. Each discovery will surprise and delight you. There is a lot of history here as well. From the back garden of our former queen Beatrix’ residence to climbing the Pyramide of Austerlitz and many more places. The Utrechtse Heuvelrug is ideal for climbing and descending too, while ’t Gooi, the area beween Utrecht and Hilversum, is just perfect for catching some strade bianche. Fun fact, close to our former majesty’s back garden is the area with the most pancake restaurants per square kilometer in the world! Let’s have a stopover there.”
